Hey All!

My name is Madison Dempster and I am fundraising for Dare2Tri ofr the 2019 Chicago Marathon. Dare2tri is an Illinois-based 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization with the mission to positively impact the lives of athletes with physical disabilities and visual impairments by developing their skills in paratriathlon. Dare2tri empowers individuals with disabilities and gives them the opportunity to be physically active, engaged with their community, and helps them set and reach goals. Dare2tri changes lives by boosting individuals’ self-esteem, confidence, and self-worth.

Since 2011, Dare2tri has worked with athletes of all ability levels from beginner to elite by serving youth, adults, and injured service members who have a physical disability such as amputation, spinal cord injury, stroke, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and those with visual impairments and blindness.

Why Dare2Tri? Being a triathlete myself, I would race along side paratriathletes in all of my races. When I was younger I participated in a Dare2Tri kids camp. I was able to encourage and help young kids to do the sport of triathlon, and to see them complete something that was challenging to them. Volunteering in the summer of 2018 was eye opening. I was there to guide an athlete to victory during the Supersprint triathlon in Chicago, and rode down lakeshore drive with another athlete in the Sprint triathlon. These athletes have all the determination in the world to get these races completed, we are just there to support them.
