Hello Friends!
I am swimming, biking and running my heart out these days...training for the Chicago Triathlon.
I am doing it in hopes of raising money for every person who was told they 'couldn't'. Dare2tri is a local organization that does exactly that...teaches, assists and empowers people with physical disabilities and visual impairments to swim, bike and run. I recently did a story on Dare2tri and it stuck with me. It's not just about getting people across the finish line, but showing them just how much they CAN do. The Dare2tri athletes are forever changed and stronger--both in body and spirit. Every one of them has a story. Some were born without a limb, others lost their eyesight while serving in our military, many are living with physical disabilities that force them to spend most of their waking hours in wheelchairs. It is hard to not be moved by seeing that same person stand tall in a bike, run upright on a prosthetic blade leg or swim through the lake for the first time.
